He is currently a Paralegal in Characterist LLC, working in the Family Law and Conveyancing department of the Firm.

Relevant Training & Experiences

Lucas assists clients on a broad spectrum of family law matters, with a strong focus on adoption and estate planning. He also assists clients with matrimonial matters, wills, probate, letter of administration, powers of attorney and other civil litigation matters.
Lucas also assists clients as they face the legal issues and go through challenging periods. He exercises empathy by putting himself into the clients’ shoes and seeks to understand their expectations at each step of matter. If there are children involved in the proceedings, Lucas believes and understands that the children’s welfare should always be the paramount consideration in any divorce.
Lucas has also assisted many individuals and families with their applications for the adoption of their local and overseas stepchildren and has also assisted adoptive parents in adopting vulnerable children placed under the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s fostering scheme. Lucas enjoys working on adoption cases because he feels greatly rewarded and satisfied when families are able to be united and embark on their new life together. Lucas has assisted clients in applying for and obtaining grants of probate / letters of administration efficiently, including cases involving multi-million dollar estates.
Last but not least, Lucas has assisted with the preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney applications and drafting of Wills. He enjoys talking and connecting with people to understand their intentions and preferred arrangements so that the Lasting Power of Attorney and Wills can best serve the client’s needs.
Prior to this, Lucas completed an enjoyable period of work experience as legal executive under a Managing Director at the firm’s litigation department, where he was exposed to tort law matters and gained extensive experience in conducting legal research and assisting in the drafting and filing of Court documents.

Working with Lucas

Lucas’ position as a paralegal affords him the opportunity to bring his reading, writing and analytical skills to projects to better serve the firm’s clients. He is effective in communicating with clients in various languages, and is able to help review and translate English, Mandarin and Malay legal documents.

Passion

Lucas is particularly interested in Family Law matters. He considers it a privilege to come along side and assist clients with their personal family matters.

Working with Lucas

As the eldest of four children, Lucas is a family-oriented person who appreciates the connection of the family unit. He demonstrates a natural aptitude for interacting with clients and providing service with a smile. He is able to balance multiple competing priorities, having worked part-time during his schooling days whilst still meeting the demands of strict deadlines.
Lucas is currently taking his bar exam and aims to be a qualified lawyer in Singapore, which will provide more exposure and opportunities for his progression.
