Johnston has acted for clients in court proceedings from all walks of life. He has been described by clients as “professional”, “thorough”, “patient”, and “goes above and beyond” for his clients. He has also been commended by clients for his “clarity” when rendering his advice, one who is capable of “handling sensitive issues in a timely manner”, “puts personal attention”, and “shows expertise” in the conduct of his matters.
Johnston also advises on all issues pertaining to estate planning, probate and administration law. He has given numerous seminars on estate planning to a variety of audience including insurance executives, financial planners from various companies, as well as senior citizen beneficiaries from a senior activities centre and teachers in a primary school. He regularly assists clients with drafting of Wills, Lasting Power of Attorneys and Power of Attorneys. He also advises on applications to Court for grant of Probate and Letters of Administration.
Johnston’s practice also includes advising on and acting for clients in a wide range of civil matters including property damage and personal injury claims arising from industrial and motor vehicle accidents, motor insurance fraud, estate disputes, contractual disputes, landlord-tenancy disputes, and defamation. He has advocated successfully at various levels of the Singapore Courts.
Inspired by a speech he heard from a Queen’s Counsel, Johnston aspires to be an advocate for the man-on-the-street as he believes they are the ones who need his skill set most. He has grown to be an advocate with a unique ability to combine his compassion, people skills and legal expertise to compel him to advance his client’s best case forward.
Outside of work, Johnston is an avid sportsman who enjoys almost any type of sport. His favourites are soccer, floorball and cricket. He is also passionate about working with youths and mentors a group of youths in his church. He is married and is a proud father of his adorable daughter.
